Player Development
03 Player Development

Potential is the easy part. Navigating the journey is everything.

Player development is rarely a straight line. The players who make it aren't always the most gifted at twelve. They're the ones supported through the moments that decide careers: the step up, the move, the plateau, the setback.

I made that journey myself, sixteen years as a professional, and I led the development of players at Manchester United who went on to reach the first team, among them Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Greenwood, James Garner and Angel Gomes. I work with academies, clubs and individual players to build development that reaches beyond the technical and tactical.

Who it's for

Academies, clubs and development programmes, and individual players and their families navigating the pathway.

What the work focuses on

Clearer individual plans, environments built for growth rather than only results, and players with the decision-making and belief to express themselves under pressure.

I had Hasney in the U13s, my first season of 11-a-side, playing up a year. He handled my development really well — his detail and care were top, and that helped me feel confident and gave me the belief to express myself. As well as a top coach he’s a top person, which helps you a lot as a player: you feel a real relationship and trust with Has.
