Parent & Pathway Support
04 Parent & Pathway Support

The academy journey is hard on players. It's just as hard on families.

I've lived this from every side: as a professional, a coach, a coach educator, and as a father who supported his own son from age seven to a professional career. Fourteen years inside an elite academy, as a parent, taught me things no qualification can. The uncertainty, the highs and lows, the quiet pressure on the whole family, and how much the environment around a young player shapes whether they thrive.

That's the perspective I bring to families, and to the clubs that want to support them better. Most consultants can talk about player wellbeing. I've lived the long version of it, and so has my family.

Areas of support

Parent education and workshops Academy parent programmes Understanding the talent pathway Managing expectations Supporting wellbeing Communication between clubs and families Navigating transition points Long-term player development

Who it's for

Parents and families, and the academies, clubs, community programmes and associations that want a healthier environment around their young players.

What the work focuses on

Parents who understand the journey and can support it well, healthier relationships between clubs and families, and young players surrounded by people pulling in the same direction, with realistic expectations and better decisions at the moments that matter.

Two sides of the same journey

Hasney mentored my son Alex for several years, guiding him on and off the field like no one before — with real empathy for a teenager who'd moved from the other side of the world. Trustworthy, loyal and professional. I'd recommend him to any professional outfit.

Hasney was most memorable coach from my time at Manchester United. He helped me on the pitch as I adapted to the English game, and off it too — I'd just arrived from Australia. A great coach and a great person, and someone I've stayed close to for years since.
